Yankees Secure Playoff Spot

The New York Yankees have booked their spot in the postseason for a record 61st time. This is their ninth playoff appearance in the last 10 years.

The spot was officially secured on Monday night during the eighth inning of their game against Minnesota. A loss for Toronto against Detroit confirmed that the Yankees will at least have an American League wild card spot.

Manager Aaron Boone was happy with the achievement. Boone said, "You work very hard to get that opportunity to go to postseason." The Yankees are now chasing their first World Series title since 2009.

Judge Returns With a Bang

Aaron Judge made a major impact by hitting his first home run since May 24. The Yankees captain had struggled since returning from a fractured rib, going 3 for 20 with 11 strikeouts before his big hit.

Judge broke that run with a three-run homer in the eighth inning to help put the Yankees 7-2 up. He had missed 84 games with a right rib stress fracture.

His return is huge for New York. The team went 40-24 with Judge in the lineup, averaging 5.17 runs per game. Without him, they went 46-39 and averaged 3.93 runs per game. Boone said he was pleased with Judge, noting that he is swinging at the right pitches and not chasing.
