Decision Made After West Brom Defeat

West Ham United have parted ways with manager Nuno Espírito Santo after a difficult start to their Championship campaign. The board took action following a disappointing 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

That result leaves the club sitting in eighth place in the league table. Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, West Ham entered the current campaign with high expectations. Nuno was tasked with steering the team straight back up, but the squad has fallen behind early on. They currently trail the automatic promotion spots by four points.

Board Statement and Backroom Changes

The club released an official statement explaining why they decided to part ways with the manager. The board stated that after a thorough review of the start to the Championship season, they believed a change was necessary to ensure the club remains on track to hit its targets.

West Ham thanked Nuno and his staff for their hard work and commitment while at the club, wishing them the very best for the future. The club added that the process to find a new head coach is already underway.

It is a complete clean sweep for the senior coaching group. Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have both left the club alongside Nuno.

Caretaker Trio Steps In for Cardiff Match

There is no delay for the squad as fixtures continue. West Ham travel to face Cardiff City on Wednesday night, and a temporary management team has been put in place to handle the fixture.

Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will step up to take temporary charge of the first team. They will lead the players on the sideline for the midweek clash while the board searches for a permanent manager.
