A Frustrating Return to Seattle
Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III had a tough night in his return to Seattle on Sunday. Following a 20-3 defeat, Walker headed straight to the locker room instead of shaking hands with his former teammates. He finished the game without speaking to opponents and explained that he was simply too frustrated by the loss.
Walker entered the primetime matchup with strong statistics from the start of the season. However, the Seattle defense locked him down completely. He ended the night with a season-low 36 rushing yards on 14 attempts.
Seahawks Defense Holds Firm
The Seattle defense maintained a strong streak by preventing any rusher from reaching 100 yards for the 35th consecutive game. Safety Nick Emmanwori admitted that stopping Walker was a primary motivation for the entire defensive unit.
The home team utilized nickel or dime personnel on all 50 defensive snaps. They kept two deep safeties on the field and did not allow Walker to gain even 10 yards on a single carry. Walker managed just 19 yards on eight attempts when facing seven defenders in the box.
Offensive Struggles for Kansas City
The Chiefs missed several key players due to injuries, including tackles Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore, alongside receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. Without a productive running game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the remaining receivers struggled to generate momentum.
Mahomes was targeted often and completed short passes, but the offense never reached the red zone during the entire match. This marked the first time in Mahomes' 153 career starts that his team failed to enter the red zone.
