Kompany Recovery Progress

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is recovering well after collapsing during a reserve team training session on October 23. The manager was hospitalised and received treatment for meningeal irritation, which is an inflammation of the tissue around the brain or spinal cord. He has been away from club duties for two weeks.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks shared an update on Friday. He said he had a few good phone calls with Kompany, who appears positive and well on the way to a full recovery. Bayern set a club policy not to involve Kompany in football discussions while he recovers at home.

Team Duties and Upcoming Schedule

Aaron Danks remains in charge for Bayern's match against Mainz on Saturday. This will be the fifth fixture for the team since Kompany fell ill.

An international break follows the Mainz game, meaning Bayern will not play again until November 20. Danks explained that this break gives the club a good opportunity to reflect and determine when the manager can return.

Eventful Period for Bayern Munich

The team experienced several key events during Kompany's absence. Bayern drew against German rivals Borussia Dortmund, suffered multiple injuries, and secured a victory against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Striker Harry Kane also made history by becoming the first Bayern player in 45 years to win the Ballon d'Or. Kane signed a contract extension on Thursday, though he noted that Kompany might not have known about the announcement in advance.

Praise for Harry Kane

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund spoke about Kane's contract extension. He described Kane as the best player in the world right now and said the striker has exceeded all expectations.

Freund added that the club firmly believes Kane will maintain his standards with his attitude and personality to help the team in the coming years.
