Kompany recovers after hospital stay
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was discharged from hospital on Wednesday following his collapse last week. The 40 year old coach was admitted to hospital on Friday after collapsing while watching the club second team train. He had also been ill with a virus before the incident occurred.
Director of sport Max Eberl confirmed the positive update. Eberl said that given the circumstances, Kompany is doing well, calling his release the biggest and best news for everyone at the club. Eberl explained that a meningeal irritation caused the collapse on Friday. He stated that Kompany will now rest and take medication, adding that he expects the Belgian coach to be back on the touchline operating at 100 percent very soon. Eberl had previously noted it would take weeks rather than days for the manager to return to work.
Strong results under assistant manager
Assistant manager Aaron Danks took charge of the team for the recent matches during Kompany absence. Bayern won 3-1 away against Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday. On Wednesday night, Bayern earned a convincing 6-1 victory over Magdeburg in the German Cup at the Allianz Arena.
Before the cup match, Bayern honored striker Harry Kane for his Ballon d'Or win in London on Monday night. Kane shared that Kompany called him on Monday morning to wish him good luck before the ceremony.
