Kompany stands by City achievements

Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has spoken out following the news that his former club was found guilty of breaking Premier League rules. The former defender insisted he remains proud of everything the team achieved on the pitch during his time in Manchester.

Kompany spent 11 years with City between 2008 and 2019. During his highly successful spell in England, he won the Premier League four times. He also helped the club win the FA Cup twice and the League Cup four times.

The financial breaches

An independent commission recently found that Manchester City broke financial rules across nine seasons, from 2009 to 2010 up to 2017 to 2018. This period covers three of the Premier League titles that Kompany won with the club.

Despite the ruling, Kompany defended his time at the club. "I played 11 years for the club," Kompany said. "I've loved all of the years I played for the club and everything we achieved and done on the pitch, that's something I'm really proud of."

Focus on Bayern Munich

Kompany is now the head coach of German giants Bayern Munich. He made it clear that he is not letting the situation in England distract him from his current job.

He explained that players are not involved in the financial side of a club. He added that as the coach of Bayern Munich, he is not occupied with the topic because he is busy preparing for his upcoming matches.
