Armed raid at home
Villarreal goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi missed his team's Champions League match against Napoli on Tuesday because of an armed home invasion at his house. The club confirmed the absence before the game, stating only that the 36 year old player was unavailable due to personal reasons.
Spanish media reported that armed men entered the Hungarian goalkeeper's house overnight from Monday to Tuesday. Gulacsi was at home with his wife and their two children when the incident occurred. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.
Match action
Luiz Junior took the place in goal for Villarreal due to the sudden absence of Gulacsi. The Spanish club went on to win the league phase match with a score of 3-1.
Gulacsi is a new signing at Villarreal. He joined the club from RB Leipzig in August after spending more than ten years with the German team. His career also includes spells with Liverpool and Red Bull Salzburg, and he has earned 58 caps for his country.
