Police Intervene in Tunnel Clash at Mestalla

Valencia sporting director Braulio Vázquez had to be physically restrained and removed by police after a confrontation at half time during their 3-0 loss to Real Madrid on Saturday at Mestalla. The incident started over a refereeing decision before Real Madrid scored their first goal.

Vázquez confronted referee Francisco José Hernández Maeso and his assistants in the tunnel. He was complaining about a foul given against Valencia defender Pablo Maffeo on Kylian Mbappé. That foul led to Federico Valverde scoring for Madrid in the 28th minute.

Referee Report Details Tunnel Drama

In his official match report, Hernández Maeso stated that Vázquez went face to face with an assistant referee. The referee wrote that the director repeatedly shouted, "It wasn't a foul, it wasn't a foul! What a disgrace!" in an agitated tone.

Hernández Maeso noted that Vázquez addressed him in the same manner. Officers from the Spanish National Police intervened, identified Vázquez, physically restrained him, and removed him from the tunnel area to stop the incident.

Maffeo Fumes as Real Madrid Cruise

Valencia players were also unhappy about the decision. Maffeo voiced his frustration at half time, saying a foul was given against them that was not a foul, which conditioned the scoreline. Arda Güler had doubled Madrid's lead before the break.

Kylian Mbappé scored a third goal for Real Madrid in the second half. Valencia finished the match with ten men after Jose Luis Gayà was sent off late in the game.

Madrid Continue Strong Form at the Top

Real Madrid have now won eight matches in a row across all competitions. The win moves them level at the top of LaLiga with Barcelona, who play against Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

Valencia were left empty handed after a tough match that saw them concede three goals, lose a player to a red card, and face police intervention in the tunnel.
