Denial of Physical Abuse
Tyreek Hill took the stand Thursday in his civil trial in Miami. The former NFL wide receiver denied all allegations that he physically abused his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. Hill did admit he was deeply ashamed for threatening her safety during an argument by saying he could get people to hurt her. He told jurors he said that in the heat of the moment and had no intention of actually harming her.
Financial Disputes and Arguments
Hill told the court that most of his arguments with Vaccaro centered on money concerns. He claimed she refused to sign a post-nuptial agreement and accused her of taking large sums of money from a family bank account without permission. The jury was also shown footage from a nanny camera capturing a loud argument between the couple before Vaccaro filed for divorce in April 2025. Vaccaro's own mother testified earlier in the day and stated she never saw Hill physically abuse her daughter.
Reflecting on Life and Marriage
During nearly two hours of testimony, Hill spoke about his childhood and his current daily life as a father. He mentioned attending couples therapy sessions in an attempt to save the marriage before it ultimately ended. Hill explained that he wanted to speak in court because he felt it was time to share his side of the story after facing what he called false allegations. Court proceedings are set to continue with cross-examination.
