A viral moment in Cincinnati
The Jacksonville Jaguars secured a 22-17 victory at Paycor Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals. During the game, cornerback Travis Hunter made an interception that quickly spread across social media. Teammate Jarrian Jones missed the action live because he was on the other side of the field.
Once back in the locker room, Hunter showed the clip to Jones on his phone. Jones admitted the move was impressive, noting that Hunter has that offensive background in him. Hunter returned the ball 30 yards to the Cincinnati 36-yard line before the play ended.
The move that dropped Higgins
After catching the ball, Hunter took a step to his left and gave Bengals receiver Tee Higgins a quick head fake. He then cut back to his right, which sent Higgins tumbling to the ground. Jones thought Hunter was going to return the interception all the way for a touchdown.
Hunter reminded everyone of his background. He mentioned that a lot of people know he plays receiver too, so he can make plays like that happen when the ball is in his hands.
The penalty wipes it out
Despite the excitement in the locker room, the play did not officially count in the match statistics. A roughing the passer penalty called on defensive tackle Arik Armstead completely wiped out the interception and the 30 yard return.
Even though the statistics will not show it, the video clip generated plenty of attention online after the final whistle blew.
