The Tennessee Titans suffered a painful 24-20 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles. Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons sat in full uniform at his locker in disbelief long after the game ended. The loss came down to the final seconds when Darius Cooper caught a 3 yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts with only nine seconds remaining on the clock.

The Titans had a great chance to win late in the fourth quarter. Tyjae Spears made a 27 yard run on a third and 22 play, giving Tennessee a 73.7% chance to win. However, the offense stalled at the 9 yard line. Joey Slye kicked a 33 yard field goal to put the Titans up 20-17 with 1:56 left. The defense could not hold the lead, allowing Hurts to drive the Eagles 65 yards for the winning score.

Sticking to the Plan

Tennessee is now 0-2 on the season and has not won a game since last December. They also lost heavily to the New York Jets in their season opener. Despite the poor start, head coach Robert Saleh wants his young team to stay focused. The Titans have one of the youngest rosters in the league, with an average age of 25.9 years.

Saleh explained that they must keep working the right way. He said that you cannot let the result affect your process. Quarterback Cam Ward expressed frustration, saying the team wants to end every drive with a touchdown and needs to help the defense more.

The defense struggled to get off the field during the game. The Eagles converted 11 of their 18 third down opportunities. This allowed Philadelphia to keep the ball for more than 36 minutes, leaving the Titans tired and short of possession.
