Pederson sidelined with wrist injury

Texas Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson has been placed on the 10-day injured list because of a left wrist fracture. The issue has kept him out of the lineup for the AL West leaders since Sept. 13.

Pederson was hit by a pitch on his left wrist on Sept. 12 against Arizona. In 136 games this year, the primary leadoff hitter has batted .235 with 26 home runs and 53 RBIs.

The team made the move retroactive to Sept. 19. That decision keeps him eligible to return for the start of the postseason next week if the Rangers qualify.

Quantrill ruled out for the playoffs

Right-hander Cal Quantrill will miss the rest of the campaign and the playoffs after being transferred to the 60-day injured list. Quantrill, who has a 9-5 record, was initially placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with right lat tightness.

The injury occurred on Saturday against Toronto, where he had to leave the mound after facing only four batters and throwing 12 pitches.

Texas made additional roster moves before their series against the New York Mets. Infielder and outfielder Michael Helman returned from the 60-day injured list, while right-handed reliever Peyton Gray came off the 15-day injured list. Left-hander Adam Macko was optioned to the rookie-level Rangers in Arizona.
