Injury boost for Houston

The winless Houston Texans received good news on Friday as star wide receiver Nico Collins prepares to return against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Collins missed the last two games after hurting his hamstring during a Week 2 practice. He practiced on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

His absence hurt the team. The Texans went 0-2 without him, losing to the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts. The offense averaged only 11.5 points per game during that span. In comparison, Houston scored 31 points against the Buffalo Bills in the season opener with Collins on the field.

Coach welcomes the playmaker back

Coach DeMeco Ryans understands the importance of his star receiver. Everyone knows the type of player Nico is, Ryans said on Wednesday. He is an explosive playmaker any time he touches the ball and any time he is on the field. Defenses have to prepare for him and do different things to adjust, so the team is happy to have him back.

Houston also gets starting right guard Ed Ingram back from a two-game absence.

Chasing the first win

Houston sits at 0-3 and this week is a borderline must-win game to keep playoff hopes alive. Only one team in history started 0-4 and made the postseason, which was the Chargers in 1992. The slow start is disappointing for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, but the franchise bounced back from a similar three-game skid in the past.
