Texans boost linebacker depth

The Houston Texans have made a move to strengthen their defense by signing linebacker Kenneth Murray to their practice squad. The signing happened on Tuesday. This decision comes after starting linebacker Henry To'oTo'o was placed on injured reserve.

To'oTo'o suffered an injury during the final minutes of Houston's season opening loss against the Buffalo Bills. He was tackled by Bills tight end Dawson Knox with just two minutes and 34 seconds left on the clock. It is a big blow for the Texans defense. To'oTo'o, who was a fifth round pick in 2023, had recently signed a two year contract extension worth 16 million dollars in August.

Murray brings plenty of experience

Kenneth Murray joins the Texans with a wealth of experience in the league. He was originally selected in the first round of the 2020 draft by the Chargers. Over his six seasons in the league, Murray has started 83 games.

He has played for the Tennessee Titans, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Chargers. During his career, Murray has recorded 497 tackles, including 33 tackles for loss. He spent the 2024 season with Tennessee before his most recent stint with the Cowboys. He now brings this experience to Houston to help fill the void left by To'oTo'o.

Texans prepare for tough run

The Texans are preparing for a busy schedule. They host the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday. After that, they will travel to play Indianapolis before returning home to host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.

With To'oTo'o out, the Texans need to find the right partner for Pro Bowl linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. The other options currently in the group are Jake Hansen, Jake Hummel, and rookies Aiden Fisher and Wade Woodaz. Murray will provide key depth as the team prepares for these upcoming games.
