Foot Injury Forces Move
The Pittsburgh Steelers are placing receiver Michael Pittman on injured reserve due to a foot injury. Sources shared this update on Saturday.
Steelers coach Mike McCarthy stated on Thursday that Pittman aggravated a foot injury in practice on Wednesday. The player is expected to miss multiple weeks.
Troublesome Foot Issues
Pittman has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. This issue previously caused him to miss the Week 2 game against the New England Patriots.
After Wednesday practice, the receiver was seen using a scooter to keep weight off his left foot in the locker room. He also missed a large chunk of training camp with a separate, undisclosed injury.
Slow Start in Pittsburgh
The Steelers acquired the veteran receiver from the Indianapolis Colts for a late-round pick swap in a March trade. They then signed him to a three-year, $59 million extension.
Pittman was productive in six seasons with the Colts and posted two 1,000-yard seasons after entering the league as a second-round pick in 2020. However, he has struggled early on in Pittsburgh by catching just seven passes on 12 targets for 89 yards. His absence arrives as the team prepares to face the Colts.
