Foot Injury Sidelines Pittman

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. will miss multiple weeks after aggravating a foot injury in Wednesday practice. Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed the setback on Thursday, noting it is the same plantar fasciitis issue in his left foot that caused Pittman to miss the Week 2 game against the New England Patriots.

Pittman was seen using a scooter in the locker room to keep weight off his foot. The veteran receiver joined the Steelers in a March trade and signed a three year extension. He has caught seven passes for 89 yards so far this season after missing significant time in training camp.

Stepping Up in His Absence

With Pittman out, the offense will rely more on third-year receiver Roman Wilson and rookie Germie Bernard. Wilson has caught touchdown passes in consecutive weeks and has 14 receptions for 188 yards. McCarthy praised Wilson for his route-running and speed.

Bernard has also contributed with seven receptions for 60 yards. Meanwhile, the team added depth at cornerback by signing Sean Murphy-Bunting and Terell Smith.
