Historic draw against Vancouver
St. Louis City set a new record for consecutive games without a loss after a 0-0 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday earned them a 21st unbeaten game in a row.
On Sunday, St. Louis trounced the LA Galaxy to extend its unbeaten streak to 20, tying the New York Red Bulls record from 2016 across all competitions. On Wednesday, they made history for an MLS club. The last time Yoann Damet's side lost a game in MLS was on May 3, while two of the wins during the streak came in the U.S. Open Cup.
Climbing the standings
The result also saw St. Louis tie FC Dallas record MLS unbeaten run of 19 games in a single season, set in 2010. The streak has helped St. Louis vault up the table in MLS Western Conference ahead of the playoffs.
Wednesday's draw keeps them in second place on 51 points, one point behind West leaders Vancouver with five games left to play in the regular season. The LA Galaxy hold the record for the most MLS wins in a row at 15, which they set over the tail end of 1997 and the start of the 1998 season. St. Louis plays the Columbus Crew in the Open Cup final on Oct. 21. Both St. Louis and the Whitecaps are on the road for their next games.
