Embiid wanted to play

Joel Embiid asked reporters on Saturday to help put pressure on the Philadelphia 76ers so he could play in Sunday's game against Detroit. The team was facing the second game of their first back-to-back set of the season. Embiid joked that reporters should write articles to convince the team.

The former MVP stated he wanted to be on the court. He was coming off a strong performance in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks, where he recorded his tenth career triple double with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Health comes first

The Philadelphia management overruled Embiid and ruled him out with right foot plantar fasciitis management. The franchise wants to protect his long term health after playing an average of 49 games per season across his 10 years due to various injuries.

His absence leaves the team thin in the frontcourt. Dominick Barlow is out with a back issue and Jabari Walker is out with a left knee injury sustained on Saturday. Tacko Fall is also out with a quad problem. Adem Bona remains the only active true center, while Dean Wade and LeBron James are available to help.
