Charbonnet forced to wait for debut

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet has been ruled out of Sunday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans waiting for his season debut will have to wait at least one more week.

Charbonnet is roughly eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn left ACL. He returned to practice on October 1 and was activated off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday. He was listed as a full participant in practice all three days this week, after previously being listed as limited.

Head coach Mike Macdonald said Charbonnet did not suffer any setback. He explained that the team is following a clear plan and wants to see how he responds into next week.

Injuries pile up ahead of Sunday

The defending Super Bowl champions enter the match looking to stop a two game losing streak. However, they are dealing with several injury problems across the squad.

Weakside linebacker Drake Thomas is set to miss his second consecutive game because of an ankle injury. Linebacker Chazz Surratt is also out due to a calf problem.

Five other Seattle players are questionable after being limited in Friday's practice session. Quarterback Drew Lock has a right elbow issue, outside linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence has a knee problem, and outside linebacker Connor O'Toole has a hamstring injury. Safety Nick Emmanwori and outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu are both dealing with hip issues.

Offensive line boost and backfield situation

There is better news on the offensive line. Right guard Anthony Bradford is set to return after missing the last five games with a knee injury. Macdonald expects Bradford to play the full game once he is activated off injured reserve by Saturday.

With Charbonnet out and rookie Jadarian Price still on injured reserve with a chest injury, Seattle will rely on Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Velus Jones Jr in the backfield.

The team also signed wide receiver Irv Charles off the practice squad, released cornerback Trevon Diggs, and then re signed Diggs back to the practice squad.
