Seattle Adds Guard Quenton Nelson
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a trade to acquire eight time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. In return, Indianapolis receives a 2027 third round draft pick and a 2028 fifth round draft pick.
Nelson is 30 years old and has made the Pro Bowl in every season since entering the league in 2018. He was selected sixth overall out of Notre Dame and has earned three first team All Pro honours in his career.
Colts Begin Roster Changes
The move comes as the Colts prepare to rebuild their squad. Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard last week and is expected to restructure the roster in the coming off season.
Nelson is in the final year of his contract, which includes a 16 million dollar base salary in 2026. He did not sign an extension before the current season began.
When asked about his future recently, Nelson remained focused on his work. "I have no questions," Nelson said. "I leave that up to God and I'm just focused on being my best." With Nelson moving to Seattle, Indianapolis is expected to insert rookie Jalen Farmer into the starting lineup.
Seattle Looks To Boost Line
Seattle sits at 4-3 after beating the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. They remain two games behind the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West standings.
General manager John Schneider has a history of mid season trades, previously acquiring players like Leonard Williams in 2023 and Ernest Jones IV in 2024. Seattle has accumulated extra 2027 draft picks, giving them room to complete this deal.
The Seahawks needed help along their offensive line to keep quarterback Sam Darnold safe. Seattle ranks 21st in pass block win rate at 46.8 percent and allowed 10 sacks in recent losses to San Francisco and the Denver Broncos.
Injuries have also impacted the team. Right guard Anthony Bradford missed five games with a knee injury, while left tackle Charles Cross suffered an ankle injury against the Chiefs and will miss time.
