Injury Blow for San Francisco

San Francisco Giants star Rafael Devers is out for the rest of the season. The team placed the first baseman and designated hitter on the 60 day injured list on Sunday due to a core muscle injury.

Devers is traveling to Philadelphia to meet with Dr. William Meyers on Monday. If the doctor recommends a procedure, Devers will undergo surgery on Tuesday. San Francisco confirmed that the slugger had been playing through this injury for a large part of the current season.

Star Performance Despite the Pain

Despite playing through injury, Devers was the top performer for San Francisco. He leads the team with 37 home runs and 98 RBIs this year. He was in great form at the end, hitting eight home runs and getting 20 RBIs in his final 11 games, including home runs in his last two games.

Devers is in the third season of a ten year contract worth 313.5 million dollars, having joined from Boston in June 2025. He started slowly, batting .207 with two home runs through April, but improved to raise his average to .258. Over his ten major league seasons, he has a .274 average and 272 home runs. To fill the roster spot, the Giants selected the contract of outfielder Scott Bandura from Triple A Sacramento.
