Greenlaw Ejected Against Seattle

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended for one game without pay. The penalty comes for unsportsmanlike conduct during Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Greenlaw received an ejection in the second quarter. The incident involved a late hit and a head-butt directed at Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV.

Details of the Sideline Clash

The situation occurred with 6:30 left in the first half while the Niners led 14-10. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold scrambled toward the sideline for a five yard gain before stepping out of bounds, where Greenlaw hit him.

Players surrounded Greenlaw after the late hit penalty, including Jones. Greenlaw and Jones exchanged words. Greenlaw, who still wore his helmet, leaned in and made contact with the face of Jones, who was not wearing a helmet.

History of Discipline

This event marks the third career ejection for Greenlaw. He previously faced disqualification for a late hit on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in 2022 and another sideline incident against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.

Prior to this game, Greenlaw was coming off an emotional matchup against the Broncos. The NFL also fined him $11,941 on Saturday for unsportsmanlike conduct.
