Rookie Duo Ready for Browns Game
The New Orleans Saints have received major roster news ahead of their matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. are both set to be active for the game. Both players were listed as questionable on the official injury report, but they are now prepared to play.
Tyson, who was taken eighth overall in the 2026 NFL draft, will finally make his debut. Fans have been waiting to see the young receiver in action after his pre season injury. Meanwhile, Banks gives the team an important option on the offensive line after returning to practice following ankle surgery.
Tyson Back After August Injury
Tyson hurt his right hamstring on Aug. 13 during a joint practice session with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury happened when he landed awkwardly after catching a pass. Initial expectations were that he would miss at least two months of football while recovering.
The young receiver has dealt with health issues before. He missed three games for Arizona State last year due to a hamstring problem. However, both Tyson and the Saints stated that this recent injury was not related to his past college issues.
His medical history includes a severe knee injury at Colorado in 2022, where he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL in his left knee. He also suffered a fractured collarbone in 2024 and a sprained ankle that forced him to miss spring practices in 2025. Tyson admitted the extra time to heal felt like a blessing. He said, "Kind of got a slow start to the NFL, so I got to kind of take my time and kind of really adjust to it."
Saints Make Roster Space
The Saints had to make a roster move to activate Tyson off injured reserve before Sunday's game. The team released running back Kendre Miller to create space for the rookie receiver on the active squad.
With Banks also returning from his ankle surgery, New Orleans will have two of their top rookies available against Cleveland. The coaching staff will look to get both players involved as they take the field on Sunday.
