Owner speaks out

New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson recently called her team's 1-4 start unacceptable during a meeting with the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club. She stated that she will not make excuses or accept this level of performance as the standard for the franchise. She also cited shared blame between coach Kellen Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis for the early season struggles.

Player and coach reactions

Quarterback Tyler Shough mentioned on Wednesday that he shares the exact same frustrations. He stated that Benson highlighted the correct expectations, which the players also hold for themselves. Shough noted that players saw the comments all over social media, but he emphasized that the remarks will not change their daily preparation or work ethic.

Coach Kellen Moore stated that he has not met with Benson to discuss the remarks. He acknowledged that the team is currently sitting at a 1-4 record and missed a few opportunities along the way. Moore mentioned that everyone inside the building shares the same objectives and must simply find a way to get better moving forward.
