Defensive injuries hit New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints head into their Monday night matchup against the Atlanta Falcons with significant holes on defense. Linebacker Kaden Elliss is officially ruled out with a calf injury. Elliss was set to face his former team, having spent three seasons in Atlanta before returning to New Orleans.

Edge rushers Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings are also out of the lineup. Granderson deals with an ankle issue, while Jennings is sidelined due to a knee injury.

More players listed as questionable

The injury list does not stop at the linebackers and edge rushers. Linebacker Pete Werner is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury after missing all practices during the week.

Saints coach Kellen Moore spoke about Werner's status. We will give it a little bit of time, Moore said, noting they still have time until Monday night. Moore added that the issue is strictly physical rather than mental, so they will let medical staff evaluate him for the next day or so.

On the offensive side, tight end Noah Fant is questionable with an abdomen injury. Fant comes into the week following a two touchdown performance in the previous game.
