A Night to Forget for Amorim
Ruben Amorim probably hoped for a better evening on his return to England, just ten months after his departure from Manchester United. Instead, he endured a miserable night as his Milan side fell to a 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth. Torrential rain and swirling wind added to the gloom in the dugout as the manager watched his team struggle on the pitch.
Bournemouth fans soaked in every moment, singing about Amorim as the goals went in. Justin Kluivert opened the scoring from the penalty spot early on after a VAR review for handball. Things went from bad to worse for the visitors when goalkeeper Mike Maignan received a red card for shoving Tyler Adams in the face. Marcus Tavernier scored the resulting penalty to double the lead before the break.
Bournemouth Dominate the Match
The hosts looked right at home on a historic European night for the club. Players like Tavernier, Kluivert, and Ben Gannon-Doak caused constant problems for the visiting defence. Even with muddy conditions and a slippery pitch, Bournemouth maintained control of the tempo throughout the match.
Amorim made six changes to his lineup following a weekend win, but his players failed to match the energy of the home side. The contest was effectively over by the interval. Amine Adli added a third goal late in the game with a brilliant free kick to seal a famous victory. At the full time whistle, the home supporters celebrated a dominant performance from start to finish.
