Late winner keeps Swansea on top
Substitute Ronald scored a last-minute winner to keep Swansea top of the Championship. The dramatic victory came after a match that was held up due to alleged racist chanting aimed at the visitors player Eom Ji-sung.
Referee Edward Duckworth halted the match in the 65th minute. He walked to the dugouts at the Den to speak with Millwall boss Alex Neil, Swansea counterpart Vitor Matos, and fourth official Ruebyn Ricardo while Eom was warming up as a substitute.
First half pressure from Millwall
Swansea arrived in south London with the best defensive record in the division and showed why as Millwall dominated the first half. The Lions should have gone ahead after 10 minutes when Mark Sykes crossed low to Kyrell Lisbie, but Filip Lissah made a last-ditch tackle.
Lyndon Dykes later teed up Sykes six yards out, but Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made a fine save. Swansea managed just one shot on target in a one-sided first half, which was a tame effort from Zan Vipotnik.
Security response and late goal
During the stoppage, a security guard was on the scene, and referee Duckworth seemed to point to an area in the stands behind the Swansea dugout. When play resumed after almost seven minutes, an announcement stated there had been a report of racist chanting and police were working to identify offenders using CCTV.
After the delay, Millwall searched for a winner and Vigouroux denied Dykes at point-blank range. Swansea then nicked it at the death when Joseph Opoku crossed and Brazilian winger Ronald crashed home the winner.
