Finding a new home at Anfield

Ronald Araujo is convinced his loan move to Liverpool from Barcelona was exactly what he needed. The Uruguay defender has scored two goals in 11 appearances for the Reds, including one in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Speaking to Cadena Ser after the game, Araujo expressed his happiness with how well he has settled in. He noted that he was genuinely blown away by the people at the club. Playing regularly was the most important thing for him.

Making the switch from Spain

Araujo is certain he made the right choice by joining Liverpool. The club has a £47.2 million option to make his signing permanent at the end of the campaign.

He explained that he spoke with Barcelona, sporting director Deco, and the manager before making the switch. They made the decision very easy for him. At Liverpool, he feels he is finding what he needed, which is to play, feel important, and display his style of football. He has impressed playing at both right-back and centre-back under Andoni Iraola.

Facing top wingers

On playing more as a right-back at Liverpool, Araujo mentioned his past experience in Spain. Barcelona used to put him there in the Clasicos, where he had to face quick wingers like Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior.

He has a lot of respect for Vinicius. Their duels were always great, and facing such players helps a defender grow. Araujo admitted he prefers playing as a centre-back, but added that his time at right-back will help him in the future.
