Mancini Speaks Out
Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has dismissed reports about the club facing financial penalties from the Premier League. The Italian coach stated that the ongoing legal situation is not something he needs to worry about.
Speaking at a press conference in Turkiye ahead of a Nations League match, Mancini addressed the situation directly. He explained that discussions about these issues have been taking place for years and that the club has not been found guilty.
Mancini said, "It is not an issue that concerns me. It is nothing new because this matter has been discussed for the last four or five years. Manchester City has not been found guilty, and the alleged double contract is not my concern. It is their issue, not mine."
Contract Allegations and Past Success
The Premier League case involves 115 charges related to financial breaches. Among the allegations made in 2023, the league claimed that Manchester City failed to provide full details of manager pay between 2009 and 2013.
During that time, Mancini was in charge of the English side. Claims suggested he received a basic salary of 1.45 million pounds, alongside an additional 1.75 million pounds as a consultant for a team in Abu Dhabi controlled by City owner Sheikh Mansour.
Mancini spent four seasons at the club, leading them to the 2011 FA Cup and the 2012 Premier League trophy, which was their first league title in 44 years. He took over as Italy manager for a second time this summer.
Club and League Response
Manchester City released a statement explaining that the legal process remains ongoing. Meanwhile, the Premier League refused to make any remarks, describing the matter as a private and confidential process.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also spoke out on the issue. He stated that nothing has changed regarding the legal battle.
Al Mubarak added that the club maintains complete confidence and intent in proving their innocence, stating their stance is just as strong as when the case started.
