Real Madrid target Liverpool star
Real Madrid are looking to sign Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk when his contract expires at the end of the 2026 to 2027 season. The 35 year old central defender has not yet received a renewal offer from the English club, which could mean his time at Anfield is ending.
Madrids manager Jose Mourinho already has former Liverpool players Trent Alexander Arnold and Ibrahima Konate in his squad. He wants to add another experienced defender to his team. However, Real Madrid are not alone in this race. AC Milan, Galatasaray, and Inter Miami are also keeping an eye on the defender. Van Dijk has been with Liverpool since 2018 and has won every domestic trophy, alongside the Champions League.
Reds chase Mexican teenager
Liverpool are looking to the future and have shown interest in Club Tijuana midfielder Gilberto Mora. The 17 year old Mexico international has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint Germain.
Tijuana expect to sell the youngster at the end of the season when his value is highest. Mora has scored five goals in seven games this season and performed well at the World Cup during the summer.
Goalkeeper and defender movements
Real Madrid are also searching for a long term successor to goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. They are monitoring Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 27 year old is seen as a strong option due to his Champions League experience. This move could depend on Manchester City's situation after they were found guilty of financial charges. City have until Friday to appeal.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are looking at Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. The 27 year old signed a contract in 2025 but has struggled to start matches in Spain. Bayern see him as a potential replacement for Kim Min Jae and could make a move in January.
Premier League transfer updates
Manchester United are considering a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean Philippe Mateta. The 29 year old has nine months left on his contract and wants a new challenge. He would provide competition for Benjamin Sesko in Michael Carrick's squad.
In other news, Everton will demand at least £80 million for defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who is linked with Liverpool. Juventus are also ready to let Teun Koopmeiners leave on loan in January if his form does not improve.
