Big Injury Boost for Madrid
Real Madrid have received positive news on the injury front ahead of their clash against Barcelona on Oct. 25. Kylian Mbappe, Ibrahima Konate, and Federico Valverde are all expected to be ready for El Clasico.
The three players suffered fitness issues recently, raising fears about their availability. The club remains confident that all of them will be fit to play at Camp Nou.
Status of Mbappe, Konate and Valverde
Valverde hurt his ankle during Madrid's derby defeat to Atletico before the international break. The midfielder is set to feature when league action returns against Villarreal on Oct. 10.
Mbappe sustained a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee after scoring in France's 1-0 win against Turkiye on Sept. 25. His return will depend on his own assessment of the pain in the coming days.
Konate picked up a knee ligament issue in training last week. The problem is not serious, but the club must decide whether to play him against Villarreal or take a more cautious approach.
Fixture Congestion and Other Absentees
Madrid face a packed list of games before visiting Barcelona. After hosting Villarreal on Oct. 10, they travel to Roma in the Champions League on Oct. 14, host Sevilla on Oct. 18, and face RB Leipzig on Oct. 21.
Defender Eder Militao returned to training this week after knee surgery in April that forced him to miss the World Cup. He could return at the end of October, but he is unlikely to have the required match fitness for El Clasico. Long term absentees Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo remain sidelined.
