A Familiar Pain for Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens built confidence over the past three weeks, but it all disappeared after a 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Andre Szmyt kicked a 37-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. Safety Kyle Hamilton expressed frustration about blowing a double-digit lead. This was Baltimore's 16th blown double-digit lead since 2020, which is the most in the NFL in that span. Fill-in starting quarterback Tyler Huntley led the Ravens to a 10-0 lead early in the game. Then, familiar mistakes allowed Cleveland to score the final 13 points.

Coach Jesse Minter noted that the team had chances to create separation across all three phases. The Ravens (4-2) hope quarterback Lamar Jackson will return this week from an ankle injury. They face a tough stretch ahead against the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Turnovers and Missed Kicks Cost the Game

The momentum shifted when Derrick Henry fumbled in the fourth quarter, giving the ball to the Browns at the Ravens' 35-yard line. Audric Estime later rushed for a 2-yard touchdown to tie the game at 10. Henry told his teammates to put the loss on him and stated he must take care of the ball. This was Henry's NFL-worst third lost fumble in the fourth quarter since the start of the 2025 season.

Early in the fourth quarter, Tyler Loop missed a 49-yard field goal wide left, keeping the lead at 10-3. Loop admitted he did not strike the ball the way he needed to. Minter stated that the kicker position is results-driven and the team needs second-half kicks.

Secondary Struggles in the Fourth Quarter

In the first three quarters, the Baltimore defense held Deshaun Watson to 8-of-14 passing for 70 yards. In the fourth quarter, the Ravens allowed Watson to complete 8-of-12 passes for 94 yards. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey explained that when the team loses these games, the ball is usually in the air. In 16 blown double-digit leads, opposing quarterbacks have averaged 111.6 yards passing in the fourth quarter with 17 touchdowns and no interceptions.
