Frustration in Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens secured a 24-18 victory against the Tennessee Titans, but coach Jesse Minter made it clear that he was not happy. The team was flagged 13 times on Sunday for 131 yards. Minter stated that it is obviously unacceptable and the team needs to get out of its own way. This mark was the most penalty yards in a game for Baltimore in six years.

Costly Mistakes on the Field

The penalties kept Baltimore from pulling away from the winless Titans. In the first quarter, Nate Wiggins committed an illegal contact penalty that gave Tennessee a first down in the red zone, leading to a touchdown. Later, Lamar Jackson had a long scramble called back due to a holding penalty by Elijah Sarratt, and Chidobe Awuzie gave up 39 yards on a pass interference penalty.

Fixing the Problem

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley admitted that drives are getting stopped by penalties and miscommunications. The Ravens now have 39 penalties this season, which ties for the most through four games since 2000. Left guard John Simpson said the team is talking about cadences and reviewing film to ensure everyone is on the same page.
