A New Quarterback for Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens have completed a trade to bring quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the team. In exchange, the Arizona Cardinals receive a 2027 fourth round pick and a 2028 seventh round pick. Baltimore gets Brissett along with a 2027 fifth round pick.

The trade comes as Baltimore struggles through a difficult stretch on the field. The team dropped to 4-5 after a 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. Baltimore has now been held under 14 points for four straight games, setting a team record. They have also lost by 20 points or more in three consecutive games, which is a first in their 31 year history.

Injury Crisis Hits the Ravens

Baltimore made the move after facing severe problems in their quarterback room. Starter Lamar Jackson went down with a thumb injury that could end his season and requires surgery. Jackson was placed on injured reserve before Thursday's game, ruling him out for at least three more games. When asked if Jackson had surgery or could return this year, coach Jesse Minter said, "I'm not going to speak on that."

Backup Tyler Huntley is also out for the rest of the season due to a turf toe injury. With both main options sidelined, undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano started against the Jaguars. Fagnano completed 10 of his 18 passes for 60 yards and threw two interceptions in the defeat.

Brissett Moves On From Arizona

Brissett joins Baltimore after losing his starting role in Arizona. Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur named Gardner Minshew II as the new starter, with rookie Carson Beck taking the backup role and Brissett moving to third stringer. Brissett requested a trade on Monday after being told about the change.

Before his benching late in the third quarter of Sunday's 33-30 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys, Brissett had started 20 straight games for Arizona dating back to Week 6 of the 2025 season. Over those 20 games, he ranked first in dropbacks, completions, and attempts. He was also sacked 62 times during that span, tying for the most in the NFL.

Contract Details and Coaching Reunions

Before the trade was finalized, Arizona restructured Brissett's contract. They converted $2.7 million of his remaining $5.4 million salary into a signing bonus. Baltimore will owe Brissett a base salary of $2.43 million, with incentives included in the deal.

This move reunites Brissett with Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork. The two worked together in Arizona last season and previously with the Cleveland Browns in 2022.
