A major blow for the Rams defence
Los Angeles Rams star Myles Garrett is set to spend more time on the sidelines than first hoped. Reports show that the star pass rusher has been given a six week recovery timeline after undergoing knee surgery. This means he might not return to action until early November.
The Rams placed Garrett on injured reserve earlier this month. He struggled through the team's season opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. While he is eligible to return after four games, which would be a Week 6 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on October 18, the new timeline suggests a longer wait. He could now miss games against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8. The Rams play the Washington Commanders in Week 9 on November 8.
No rush for the star signing
Garrett is determined to beat the recovery timeline. However, the Rams are expected to be very cautious with their star player. The team traded a massive package to get him, sending two time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks, including a first round pick in 2027, to the Cleveland Browns.
The arthroscopic surgery was done to clean out Garrett's knee, relieve discomfort, and stop the swelling. He already missed most of training camp with knee swelling. After the opening game in Melbourne, Australia, Garrett did not say which knee he had hurt, though he wore a sleeve on his left leg during several practices.
Coach Sean McVay has avoided setting a firm return date. He called Garrett "Wolverine, healing fast," but also made it clear that the team will not rush him back onto the field. Last season, Garrett set the NFL single season sack record with 23 sacks for the Browns.
