Recovery update from the coach

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett is making good progress in his recovery from knee surgery, according to coach Sean McVay. The team is unlikely to open his 21 day practice window next week.

Garrett is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He had arthroscopic surgery on his knee in mid September and went on injured reserve. He played in the season opener, but admitted afterward that he was not fully healthy.

Looking ahead to his return

McVay spoke about the timeline on Saturday. He stated that it is week to week based on how Garrett feels. The main focus is making sure Garrett returns to peak performance rather than just getting back on the field.

Garrett missed most of training camp with knee irritation before the surgery. The Rams traded for him in the offseason, sending Jared Verse and three draft picks to the Cleveland Browns. Garrett set a single season sack record with 23 last year.
