Rams Offense Clicks in Style
The Los Angeles Rams bounced back from their opening week loss with a convincing 28-6 win over the New York Giants. Wide receiver Davante Adams proved his doubters wrong after warning fans not to overreact to a slow start. "Everybody's freaking out, which I understand," Adams said last week. He proved his point on Monday by catching eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford was in sensational form. He completed 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards, throwing four touchdowns and one interception. This was a massive improvement from his opening week performance. Tight end Terrance Ferguson also stepped up with six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in the absence of injured receiver Puka Nacua.
On defense, Aaron Donald made his return after retiring following the 2023 season. Donald played 32 snaps, recording three tackles and a run stuff in his first game in 981 days.
Injury Woes for the Giants
The New York Giants had a night to forget, losing both the game and several key players to injury. Quarterback Jaxson Dart left on the opening drive after hurting his left knee. Backup Jameis Winston struggled in his place, throwing for just 111 yards and tossing a costly interception in the red zone.
Star rookie Malik Nabers suffered a shoulder injury but managed to return to the game. However, the Giants offense never got going, managing only 182 total yards. To make matters worse, left tackle Andrew Thomas and outside linebacker Brian Burns also picked up injuries late in the game.
The Giants run game was also completely shut down. After rushing for 165 yards in Week 1, they managed only 52 yards against the Rams. Defensively, safety Tyler Nubin had a tough night, giving up seven catches for 143 yards and a touchdown in coverage.
