Rain Delays Game 4
Heavy rain on Friday night forced the postponement of Game 4 in the American League Championship Series. The decision creates a busy schedule for both the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays as the Milwaukee Brewers wait in the World Series.
Officials rescheduled Friday's matchup for Saturday evening. Game 5 was moved to Sunday, taking away what was originally planned as a day off for both squads.
Pitching Plans Remain Unchanged
Despite the delay, managers from both sides kept their original pitching plans in place for the weekend. All-Star pitcher Nick Martinez will take the mound for the Rays.
Meanwhile, reliever Shawn Armstrong will open a bullpen game for the Guardians. Rays manager Kevin Cash noted that officials waited late into the evening before making the call, hoping the weather would clear.
Tight Series Schedule Ahead
The Guardians currently hold a lead of 2-1 in the series after securing a close 3-2 victory on Thursday. Game 3 had already been shifted to an earlier afternoon slot to dodge a bad weather forecast.
If the series goes the distance, the teams will play four games across four consecutive days. Game 6 is set for Monday and Game 7 for Tuesday at Tropicana Field if needed.
Managers Ready for Action
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt spoke about the unusual waiting period his players experienced on Friday. He pointed out that professional athletes know how to prepare despite sudden changes.
Both teams hope the weather stays clear for the weekend action. The winner of this series will advance to face the Brewers in the World Series.
