Purdy shines in dominant win
The San Francisco 49ers continued their perfect start to the season with a dominant 35-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Brock Purdy led the way with a nearly flawless performance, ending the day with a 99.7 QBR. He completed 20 of his 22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 30 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Purdy currently leads the league in QBR and completion percentage.
After an early dropped pass, Purdy completed 18 consecutive throws. His teammates were quick to praise him after the game. Linebacker Fred Warner even called him the MVP. Warner said that as long as Purdy is operating the offense, the team is in a good position. The win moves the 49ers to a 2-0 record.
Milestone night for McCaffrey
The victory was a historic one for the franchise. The 49ers scored touchdowns on each of their first five possessions, a feat they had not achieved in the last 45 seasons. Following their 27-7 win against the Los Angeles Rams last week, this is also the first time in franchise history that the team has started a season with consecutive wins of 20 or more points.
Running back Christian McCaffrey also made history by scoring two 1-yard rushing touchdowns. This brought his career total to 100 touchdowns, with exactly 50 scored for the 49ers and 50 for his former team, the Carolina Panthers. He is only the third player in league history to score 50 touchdowns for multiple franchises, joining Marshall Faulk and Randy Moss. McCaffrey reached his 100th touchdown in 114 games, making him the fourth fastest player to reach the milestone.
