Health Update

Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis will remain out indefinitely due to a private health related issue. The team announced the news on Wednesday, adding that the veteran center will still spend time around the squad.

Porzingis reached out to general manager Mike Dunleavy right before training camp started to let him know he would not report. He missed the recent trip to Hawaii and sat out the first five preseason games while dealing with the situation.

Meeting in San Francisco

Porzingis recently returned to the downtown San Francisco facility. He met with Mike Dunleavy and lead medical decision maker Rick Celebrini on Tuesday night while his teammates were in Las Vegas for a preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors released a statement saying they will keep the details of that meeting private. Porzingis is not cleared to practice yet, and the team will provide updates regarding his playing status and timeline later.

Team Adjustments

Porzingis explained on social media that he is working with doctors and experts to return to good health. He noted that dealing with this situation on top of past injuries has been frustrating, but he believes he will feel great again soon.

Coach Steve Kerr stated that he plans to use a smaller starting lineup in the absence of Porzingis. The projected group features Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Gui Santos, Yaxel Lendeborg, and Draymond Green.
