The Latest Goal for Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 981st career goal on Monday to help Al Nassr secure a 3-1 win against Neftchi Fergana in the Asian Champions League Elite. The veteran forward started the match and later shared a message on Instagram saying, Important win tonight. We keep building.
Surprisingly, the Portugal football federation highlighted the goal on social media just two days after suspending the player. They posted a photograph of Ronaldo wearing the national team jersey with the caption, Ronaldo scores again for Al Nassr.
Recent Drama with the National Team
This match marked Ronaldo's second game for Al Nassr since his controversial exit from the national camp during the international window. He left the team following a dispute with new coach Jorge Jesus over his lack of playing time in the Nations League.
Ronaldo later apologised to his teammates and stated that he would accept any punishment imposed by the federation, while adding that he still wanted to play for Portugal. No final punishment has been announced yet, and details of the disciplinary proceedings remain confidential until the investigation concludes.
