Teenagers Lead the Way

The United States men's national team secured a big 3-0 win over rivals Mexico on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino watched his young players steal the show, with teenagers Julian Hall and Cavan Sullivan leading the charge.

The U.S. team had a tough start in the first half but took the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute. Eighteen-year-old Hall scored from close range after Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel spilled a low cross from Gio Reyna. With this goal, Hall became only the third player in USMNT history to score in his first three national team matches.

Historic Night for Sullivan

The second half saw the USMNT grow in confidence. In the 62nd minute, 17-year-old Cavan Sullivan intercepted a pass from Rangel and chipped the ball into the net from 35 yards out. This goal made Sullivan the youngest scorer in the history of the USMNT.

The game became heated in the 67th minute when Mexico's Mateo Chávez received a red card after an altercation with Sebastian Berhalter. Malik Tillman sealed the 3-0 victory in the 84th minute, capitalizing on another poor pass from the Mexican defense to score.

A Good Dilemma for the Coach

Speaking after the match, Pochettino expressed his delight at having so many players performing at a high level. He called the situation a fantastic problem to have for the national team.

Pochettino admitted his team had to work hard, especially after Mexico started strongly. He noted that the first half was a good lesson for his squad, showing they could suffer together even when things were not going to plan.

The coach was particularly impressed with Sullivan, describing him as a fighter and a warrior who shows great balance both with and without the ball. Pochettino added that his main responsibility now is to protect and support these young talents so they can grow in the right direction.
