A Heavy Defeat at Home
Real Betis suffered a 5-2 defeat at home to Barcelona on Saturday in LaLiga. The result ended their unbeaten start to the season at their home stadium. Manager Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters after the match and expressed great frustration.
Pellegrini blamed what he called incomprehensible and inexplicable decisions for the heavy loss. He felt his team suffered from several major referee calls during the 90 minutes. Over 60,000 fans watched the match at La Cartuja.
Disallowed Goals and Red Cards
Giovani Lo Celso thought he had scored a brilliant goal for Betis before half-time. A lengthy VAR review ruled it out for a handball by Cucho Hernández. Pellegrini argued that the player was pushed and the ball had no bearing on the goal.
The coach also complained about Barcelona scoring their third goal after a high foot by Fermín López. Soon after Abde Ezzalzouli made the score 3-2, Facundo Bernal received a red card. Barcelona then added more goals through Eric García and Dani Olmo to seal the win.
