Patience with Doubs
The New England Patriots are urging fans to be patient with wide receiver Romeo Doubs. The team signed Doubs to a four year, 68 million dollar contract in March, but his start in New England has been quiet. In his first three games, Doubs has just six catches for 145 yards. He also had a costly drop against Seattle and an offensive pass interference penalty against Jacksonville.
However, the 26 year old receiver remains confident. Doubs said he is staying true to his process and that learning a new offense is a grind. His coaches and teammates also believe in him. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said there is always an acclimation period for new players and added that Doubs has a bright future with the team.
Maye Struggles and Line Changes
Quarterback Drake Maye is also working to build trust with Doubs. Maye admitted he missed Doubs on a key third down throw in last week's loss to the Jaguars, but praised the receiver's effort and blocking. Maye has struggled with six interceptions this season and is facing pressure on over 41 percent of his dropbacks.
To make things harder, the Patriots are dealing with injuries on the offensive line. Ben Brown is expected to start at right guard in place of the injured Mike Onwenu and Greg Van Roten. It will be the team's third different starting offensive line combination in just four weeks.
