Mahomes Reaches 100 Wins
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes earned his 100th win with the team in his 131st regular-season start following a 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. This achievement ties Tom Brady for the fewest games started in NFL history at the time of reaching 100 career wins. Mahomes joked after the game by asking when Tom Brady lost another game, noting that every time he wins a game, he ties him. He added that it is always an honor to be mentioned in any conversation with the player he called the greatest of all time.
Overcoming Missing Receivers
The Chiefs managed the win even without top receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. Mahomes still completed all 13 unpressured passing attempts in the first half for 140 yards. Xavier Worthy finished the game with a season-high seven receptions for 73 yards, while Travis Kelce and Noah Gray combined for 106 receiving yards. Coach Andy Reid praised his quarterback, stating they are lucky to have him and that he does a heck of a job playing.
Looking Ahead and Reflecting
The win brought back memories of the team's matchup against the Chargers on Dec. 14 of last season, when Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. That experience put everything in perspective for him to just have fun when he is on the field. While he trails Brady's total of 251 career wins and seven Super Bowl rings, Mahomes stated that he is only focused on winning today.
