Padres Stick With Winning Formula

The San Diego Padres are keeping things stable. After sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the wild card round, the team decided to make no major changes to their roster. Pitcher Joe Musgrove keeps his spot. Musgrove, who is back after recovering from Tommy John surgery, threw a scoreless ninth inning in Game 1. It was his first appearance since 2024.

There is one temporary change for San Diego. Pitcher Walker Buehler has been placed on the postseason paternity list. He is expected to miss between one and three days. Fellow right-hander Randy Vasquez has been called up to take his place during this short period.

Brewers Take Risks on the Mound

The Milwaukee Brewers have finalized their postseason roster with some interesting pitching selections. Left-hander Kyle Harrison made the cut despite a tough end to the regular season. Harrison was one of Milwaukee's strongest starters for most of the year, boasting a 2.79 ERA in late August. However, he struggled heavily down the stretch, giving up 24 runs over just nine innings in four games between late August and mid-September.

Even with those struggles, Harrison finished the year with an 11-5 record and a 4.20 ERA. He showed promise in a relief role on September 26, striking out four batters in two innings.

Milwaukee is carrying 13 pitchers, which is one more than they had during the 2025 postseason. Right-hander Dustin May made the squad despite a high 5.65 ERA in his ten starts since joining from the St. Louis Cardinals before the trade deadline. Infielder Joey Ortiz is also in, having recovered from knee and abdominal issues that kept him out of the final two regular-season games. Bo Naylor, Brandon Lockridge, and Grant Anderson did not make the cut.
