Return to Practice

Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons is expected to practice this week for the first time since he tore the ACL and meniscus in his left knee on December 14 of last year. Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the plan on Monday. LaFleur stated that getting him back is a process, but the team is hopeful he can get out there sometime this week depending on the next couple of days.

The Packers held a walk-through on Monday after taking the weekend off following their victory over the Carolina Panthers last Thursday. Parsons did not take part in the walk-through, choosing instead to continue working with the trainers.

Long Recovery Process

Parsons had surgery on December 29 to repair both his torn ACL and torn meniscus. Because of the combined injuries, his recovery took longer than a standard ACL reconstruction. He is currently still on the physically unable to perform list.

Once Parsons steps onto the field for his first practice, the Packers will have a window of 21 days before they must add him to the 53-man roster. LaFleur noted that the timeline is likely to stretch toward the longer end of that period. This means Parsons will miss the upcoming game against the New England Patriots and will likely not play against the Minnesota Vikings in week 10. The team has a bye in week 11, which points toward a possible return on Thanksgiving eve against the Rams.

Impact on the Team

During his first season with the Packers, Parsons recorded 12.5 sacks and a league-high 64 pressures despite playing in only 14 games.

The Packers acquired Parsons in a trade from the Cowboys in August 2025 by giving up two first-round picks and Kenny Clark, followed by signing him to a four-year contract extension. LaFleur explained that everything regarding his return remains fluid and depends entirely on how his body responds to the progress he makes leading up to his availability.
