The elevator dispute
Former Chicago Bears linebacker Otis Wilson was involved in an altercation with security officers at Soldier Field on Sunday. The incident happened after a game against the Jets. Wilson and his wife Tina boarded an elevator on suite level A that was intended for media use only. A female security officer asked them to get off the elevator because they lacked the proper credentials.
According to Monterrey Security, Wilson did not respond to requests to leave. The officer told him the elevator would not move until he stepped off. A reporter on the elevator also asked them to leave. The security officer then tried to physically remove the couple from the elevator.
Differing accounts of the fight
Monterrey Security stated that Wilson forced his way onto the elevator and became physically combative. They claimed he violently attacked the female officer and threw her into a wall, leaving a large hole. The female officer, an off-duty law enforcement worker, was taken to a hospital with substantial bruising and injuries to her ribs and arms.
Wilson gave a different account of the event. He stated that he and his wife were assaulted by private security personnel before he could identify himself as a former player working in an official capacity as an ambassador. Wilson said a guard physically assaulted his wife. He was later transported by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation and released that night. The Chicago Police Department confirmed an active investigation is underway.
