New Deal in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to a two year deal with free agent Dalen Terry to help strengthen their roster. The signing allows the team to fill their open squad spot ahead of the upcoming action.

Terry is getting ready for his fifth season in the NBA. The six foot six swingman spent his offseason training with the Golden State Warriors and attended training camp with the team last month. He previously played for both the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Roster Changes After Holmgren Injury

The agreement with Terry follows a quick shift in plans for Oklahoma City. The franchise had previously reached an agreement with free agent Ochai Agbaji to take the final roster spot. However, the team backed out of that deal on Friday.

That decision came after star big man Chet Holmgren suffered an injury. Holmgren has a small patellar tendon tear and is expected to miss two plus months of action. The news forced the front office to reconsider how to use their open roster spot.

Thunder Face Growing Injury List

The Thunder are dealing with several major health problems across their squad right now. The roster has taken hits in multiple positions, leaving them short on options.

Along with Holmgren being sidelined, Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace are both dealing with serious issues. Both players face potential season ending surgeries, which heavily impacted the team decision to bring in extra depth.

A Look at Terry Career Stats

Terry enters the team bringing experience from 218 career NBA games. The 24 year old was originally selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Across his career so far, he has averaged 3.5 points per game.

Last season, the swingman played 48 combined games during his spells with Chicago and Philadelphia. He recorded averages of 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds during that stretch. He will now join Oklahoma City as they work through their current fitness struggles.
