Back for Another Year

The New York Mets announced Friday that pitcher Robert Stock has agreed to a one-year contract. Stock is set to turn 37 this month. He spent the previous season with the Mets, making seven starts and one relief appearance.

During his comeback season, Stock finished with a 1-3 record and a 5.93 ERA across 30 1/3 innings on the mound.

Overcoming Health Hurdles

Stock achieved a major milestone in August when he secured his first major league win since 2019. He pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings to help the team claim a 3-2 victory against Tampa Bay.

His season was cut short in September when he went on the injured list due to finger numbness. Stock explained that the issue was a byproduct of thoracic outlet syndrome surgery he underwent in March, noting that the numbness usually started after about 60 or 70 pitches.

Journeyman Career

Throughout his career, Stock has played for eight different big league organizations. His resume also includes stints in South Korea, Mexico, and with the independent Long Island Ducks.

Across 65 major league games, which include 10 starts for the Padres, Red Sox, Cubs, and Mets, Stock holds a 3-7 record with a 5.20 ERA.

Honoring a Club Legend

In other team news, the Mets shared plans on Thursday to wear a memorial patch on their jersey sleeves next season. The patch will honor Jerry Koosman.

Koosman was a two-time All-Star who helped pitch the 1969 Miracle Mets to a World Series title. He passed away Sunday at the age of 83.
